God Answered Our Prayers-PART 2 Saturday, January 16, 2010
When we first started looking for flights, most of the airlines were asking for about $10,000 to take our family of three back to America! Needless to say, as missionaries we don’t have this kind of money, and we were a bit discouraged as to how we would return to America. In the evenings, my three year old son likes to listen to the Bible and ask a lot of questions. For the last couple of weeks, every night he has been asking me to read the description of Heaven as recorded in Revelation 21. As a result, Thursday evening I was surprised when he asked me to read the story of how the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea. I read Exodus 14 to him. Our whole family was inspired with hope and encouraged as we read the following verses. Exodus 14:13-16
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry [ground] through the midst of the sea. Thursday evening after I read to Samuel, our family prayed that we would see the salvation of the Lord TODAY. Friday morning, the Lord answered our prayers in a mighty way. We were able to find and book a flight for under $4,000! Praise the LORD!!! (In Genesis we read that the evening and morning were the first day, so Thursday evening and Friday morning was the "DAY" that we saw the salvation of the LORD.) We are thankful to the Lord for yet another amazing answer to prayer, and we look forward to returning to America and continuing to serve the Lord as missionaries in our home country. As we prepare for our flight on January 20, we would like to share a few prayer requests with you. 1. Please pray that God will keep our family healthy during the rest of our brief stay in Japan, as we travel and as we get resettled in America. 2. Please pray that God will keep us safe as we travel. 3. Please pray that God will bless our efforts to raise funds to cover our travel expenses and help us get back on our feet again.
4. Please pray that God would be with our host family, the Masuda's. They have been extremely generous to our family, but they have been ill and they are preparing to welcome a new baby into their family any day now.
